Firefighters on the journey of life.
Today I would like to reflect on a friend who is soon to retire from one of the greatest ministries God has ever created, it's called firefighting. We all know firefighters give themselves totally to the care and love of humanity. How many times have we seen situations where people have fallen into a very sad moments in their lives such as an emergency, a heart attack, a suicide, a fatal accident killing a entire family. One firefighter is about to retire, like all firefighters, I am sure the file cabinet in his heart and soul open up, and shows him everything that he was involved in throughout his career. It is truly important that one should never take any of this lightly, to give of oneself to others, is truly the gospel way of living. Jesus himself asks us to lay down our lives for our friends, how many times does a firefighter rush to a scene knowing this could be one of those times that might frighten his inner core.
